I am Urmi Nimesh Bhate, born and brought up in Bangalore, belong to Kutchi(Gujarati)family.I come from the creative field of graphics designing and have worked for 9 years in India. I relocated to Sweden in 2016 to accompany my spouse and stay with him and 3 years old beautiful daughter.

About her love for cooking

I am passionate about cooking as cooking gives me a chance to be creative and indulge in some ‘play’ time – something we adults could do with a lot more. I adore losing myself in the rituals of cooking and like to experiment on food to make my own dishes.

About her venture - Indisk Takeaways

I started my food business INDISK TAKEAWAYS in 2021 to serve vegetarian Indian food to people of Helsingborg. I tried my hands in cooking from a very early age as my mother was ill and I wanted to support her. I was 11 years old and the only girl in the family when I started to cook and have learnt my cooking skills seeing my mom in the kitchen prepare traditional dishes. I have always loved to cook, watch cooking shows and YouTube for new recipes in my free time since early days. I made new food varieties for my husband, a foodie, who encouraged me to try out more and more new recipes. I am so lucky to get married to a person who best evaluates and critiques my food and helps me to improve my skills.
Hearing the words ‘this is amazing’ was a huge motivator for me to keep spending time in the kitchen when I was learning to cook, and still is…The best thing about cooking is you can please anyone with good food and through my food venture have made lots of new friends and built good relationships.

Challenges

In Sweden we do not get all the ingredients as fresh as in India and few things are very difficult to get here. There comes the actual challenge when you do business and want to give the best - many times have to prepare my own masalas. It's difficult to find helpers in Sweden to help you in business as you find in India, so it's exhausting at times. But yes we have friends here for help when needed however we are all by ourselves at the end of the day.

Wish for the future
Hope and develop further-I believe in "what goes around comes around" - so my hope is to give the best and get the best from all. Home food business is a first for me to do something big in the future, maybe a restaurant. :)

Message for Women's Day

My message to all women - Do find your passion and work towards it, and ýou will surely find success sooner or later. Never lose hope in whatever you do!!
